Introduction to Ardica Technologies

Ardica Technologies, Inc. is a San Francisco based Stanford spin-off dedicated to creating better personal power solutions for consumers. Ardica’s expertise as an innovator, integrator, and developer of fuel cell technology and products enables new products that enhance users’ lives. Since it’s foundation in 2004, Ardica’s approach to the challenge and opportunity of micro fuel cells has been to focus on end users and customers, and develop a scaleable, platform fuel cell technology that enables a whole new class of innovative products.

Ardica’s market focus stems from the early recognition that there were no viable fuel cell products in the marketplace, and that a successful technology must address the fundamental constraints of cost, form factor, product application, and overall energy density. Recognizing this, Ardica has focused its efforts on applying its unique technology to a host of innovative, high visibility products that capitalize on fuel cells’ inherent benefits while partnering with industry-leading companies to help us launch these products. Ardica’s core technology includes compact portable on-demand hydrogen generators, planar fuel cells, and fuel cell system design and integration.

In the commercial space we are collaborating with leading electronics and distribution partners to launch the first mass produced fuel cell power system for portable devices.

In the military space we closely collaborate with U.S. Army CERDEC on wearable soldier power based on fuel cells. Since 2008 we have completed several contracts worth over $4M in funding building portable fuel cell ranging from 20 to 40W and supplied with our proprietary on-demand hydrogen generators based on sodium borohydride as well as advanced solid hydride fuels. We have been currently awarded another contract for a power unit comprised of a wearable fuel cell in a unique form factor for soldiers.
